Independent living arrangements are often referred to as retirement communities, congregate living or senior apartments. These communities are designed for individuals who are able to live on their own but want the security and convenience of community living.

At Masonic & Eastern Star Home of NC (MESH), our Independent Living Village offers a lifestyle filled with recreational, educational, and social activities with other older, retired adults.  Our community even has a swimming pool, exercise facilities, lounges and libraries. MESH is an "age exclusive" community having age requirements (usually age 55 and older).

Accommodations available in the Independent Living Village are our wonderful Cottages and Houses. 

The Independent Living Houses are two bedroom, two bathroom homes with full sized kitchens, great room, dining room, breakfast nook, covered parking and plenty of closet space.  At approximately 1,500 square feet, the Houses are also heated and air-conditioned.  Some examples of House options are: carports vs. a one or two car garage; a screened in porch vs. a Carolina room.  Monthly fee would include one meal each day in the Mangum Dining room, with the option of purchasing extra meals, utilities, maintenance, activities, medical social work, housekeeping every other week and access to nursing services at any time.  Located on the same campus, but remote from the Main Home, these residents have access to all common areas and activities within MESH.

The Independent Living Cottages are either one bedroom/one bath or two bedroom/two bath apartments.  They have full sized kitchens, den, dining room, breakfast nock and patio off the kitchen area.  They are 850 square feet (one bedroom) and 950 square feet (two bedroom) accommodation.  Monthly fee includes one meal per day in the Mangum Dining room; with the option of purchasing extra meals.  Also includes: utilities, maintenance, activities, medical social work, housekeeping every other week and access to nursing services at any time.  Located on the same campus, but remote from the Main Home, these residents have access to all common areas and activities within MESH.
