Financial and Legal Status
The Masonic and Eastern Star Home (MESH) of North Carolina is a
nonprofit organization supported through three primary funding
sources: participation of residents toward the cost of care, other
sources such as insurance, entitlement and other third-party
programs, and, most importantly, fraternal members and their
families.
MESH receives income from residents who contribute to the extent
they are able. Some residents need MESH for very important reasons
other than financial support. Others require subsidy. MESH, within
the length of its fraternal cable tow, can subsidize costs for
residents needing financial assistance.
If you are interested in the program that does not require financial assistance, please call MESH and ask for the schedule of entrance and monthly fees. Programs through which the residents are entitled to benefit also provide a portion of the necessary income. Examples are Medicare entitlements, Medicaid, and insurance programs. An important, if not critical, income source is the North Carolina Masons and Eastern Stars. In addition to contributions toward annual operations, specific contributions to the two Foundations help ensure that MESH continues to serve into the next millennium. These Foundations are the North Carolina Masonic Foundation and the Eastern Star Foundation. MESH receives earnings income from both these wonderful institutions. Income from wills, legacies, and charitable trusts benefit MESH and its future. Finally, and so very essential, are the donations to the operating or special funds. These contributions “balance” the expense budget and allow MESH to continue service to residents who might otherwise have been unable to support themselves. MESH is licensed by the State of North Carolina and is recognized as a Continuing Care Retirement Community by the Department of Insurance. MESH and its operations undergo yearly inspections by the licensing division and these reports are public information. MESH proudly makes these reports available upon request. Residents are considered customers of MESH. Each year MESH files a Disclosure Statement as to the financial status of the Home and its operations. These Disclosure Statements are available upon request.
Far exceeding minimum operational requirements by the State and remaining financially solvent for almost a century ensures that MESH will continue to serve the continuing needs of its senior community. Management encourages prospective residents and their families to request any reports and audits as they review MESH as a future residence. |
